The infant son of Ben Evans (1892-?) and Lanie Moore (1899-?) was born in the Wickware community of Newton County, Mississippi on June 8, 1916, a time when rural life was marked by close-knit communities and the challenges of agricultural living. The infant’s maternal grandparents, George Moore (1840-?) and Matilda Evans (1857-?), played a significant role in the family, providing support and guidance in a world that was often harsh and unpredictable. Similarly, the paternal grandparents, Hart Evans and Trulove Evans (1879-?), contributed to the family’s legacy, fostering values of resilience and perseverance that were essential for survival in those times. Tragically, the infant passed away at just 11 days old from colitis on June 19, 1916, a devastating loss for his parents, who had just begun their journey into parenthood.
