Birth & Parentage
Arthur Lee Hill was born on August 25, 1914, to Elijah Hill (1889–1971) and Paralee Earnest Hill (1892–1963).
Early Life & Education
Arthur spent his early years working as a farm laborer, contributing to agricultural work on the home farm. He completed the 6th grade of elementary school, reflecting the limited educational opportunities available to African Americans in rural Mississippi during his youth.
Marriage & Family
Arthur married Walterene Payne (1925–1957). From this union, two children were born:
- Sally Mae Hill (1942–1984)
- Elijah Leon Hill
At the time of his death, Arthur was also survived by:

- Elijah Hill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Billy Johnson of Dallas, Texas
- One brother: Sylvester Hill of Grenada, Mississippi

- Mrs. Melissa Hillard of Brookhaven, Mississippi
- Six grandchildren
Church Membership
Arthur Lee Hill was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he maintained strong ties to the congregation and the surrounding community.
Death & Burial
Arthur Lee Hill passed away on November 25, 1984, at Newton County Hospital. Funeral services were held on December 1, 1984, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Newton, with Rev. Purvis Moore officiating.
He was laid to rest at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church Graveyard. Funeral arrangements were handled by Mapp Funeral Home.
