Early Life and Family
Dudley Stennis Walker was born on June 27, 1932, in Newton County, Mississippi, to Robert Walker (1893–1966) and Cordelia Donald Walker (1896–1966). He was part of a large, well-documented Walker family deeply rooted in the St. John community and Newton County’s African American history. Early in life he was a farm laborer on the family farm.
Adult Life and Residence
As an adult, Dudley Walker relocated from Newton County and became a long-time resident of Mobile, Alabama. Though he lived away from his birthplace for many years, his family ties to Newton County remained strong, as reflected in his burial at St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Dudley Walker married Millie Abrams Walker, and together they raised a large family.

Death and Funeral Services
Dudley Stennis Walker passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 1975, at a hospital in Mobile, Alabama.
Wake and funeral services were held on Saturday, August 9, 1975, at Stone Street Baptist Church. The service was officiated by Dr. C. A. Tinstall. Funeral arrangements were handled by Hodges Funeral Home.
Burial
Dudley Stennis Walker was laid to rest at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi, returning him to the community where his family’s legacy was firmly established.
