Geneva Chapman Walker was born on July 21, 1930, in Newton County, Mississippi, to Andrew Chapman (1895–?) and Susie Walton Chapman (1897–1943). She grew up in one of the large, interwoven families of the Chapman, Evans, Walker, and Rigsby communities whose histories shaped the Bethel and Altare areas.
Marriage and Family
Geneva later married a member of the Walker family, uniting two long-established Newton County lineages. Through this marriage, she became connected to one of the largest and most influential family networks in the Bethel community.
