Birth and Family Background
The infant son of Green Earnest (1890–1971) and Lydie Walker Earnest (born 1891) was born on October 6, 1926. He was part of the extended Earnest, Walker, and Evans family networks of Newton County, Mississippi—communities deeply rooted in the Bethel and Altare areas.
A Short Life
Tragically, the child lived only 16 days, passing away on October 22, 1926. Like many rural African American families of the 1920s, the family relied on home births, and no medical attendant was present at the time of his passing. Because of this, the official cause of death was not recorded.
Even though his life was brief, he remains an acknowledged and cherished part of the Earnest family’s story.
Passing and Burial
The infant was laid to rest at the Evans Cemetery in the Bethel community of Newton County, Mississippi. His burial there places him among generations of relatives whose lives collectively shaped the history of the community.
Legacy
