Life Story

Biography

Birth: About 1926
Death: June 4, 1928
Burial: Newton, Mississippi (likely Evans Cemetery)

Early Life

Jeraline Walker was born around 1926 in Newton County, Mississippi, to Robert Walker (1893–1966) and Cordelia Donald Walker (1896–1966). She was one of the younger children in the large Walker family, whose roots were deeply connected to both the St. John and Evans communities.

Death

Jeraline passed away on June 4, 1928, at just two years old. Her death certificate lists the cause of death as “sudden” with no medical attendant, a common notation in rural communities where healthcare access was limited.

The informant on the death certificate was Jim Rigsby, a familiar figure in many Walker-Rigsby family records of the 1920s.

Her place of burial was recorded simply as “Newton”, which—given the family history—most likely refers to Evans Cemetery, where many Walker relatives are interred.

Legacy

Though her life was brief, Jeraline Walker remains an important part of the Walker family history. Her inclusion in this genealogical record honors her memory and preserves her place among the twelve children of Robert and Cordelia Walker.
