Life Story
Birth & Parentage
Johnny Earl Fielder was born on August 28, 1951, to Joseph Fielder (1932–1986) and Elnora Walker Fielder (1933–2012). He was born into the Walker–Fielder family network of Newton County, Mississippi, with extended family ties reaching into Lawrence County and beyond.
Youth & Early Adulthood
In his youth and early adulthood, Johnny traveled between Mississippi and other regions to visit and maintain family connections. A local newspaper article documents that in 1970, at the age of 19, Johnny Earl Fielder was seriously injured in an automobile accident on Interstate 20, approximately four miles east of the Chunky interchange.
At the time of the accident, Johnny—then a resident of Chicago, Illinois, visiting relatives in the Lawrence County area—was listed in intensive care at Riley’s Hospital in Meridian with undetermined injuries. The incident highlights both the risks of travel during that era and Johnny’s continued connection to his Mississippi family despite living out of state.
Later Life
While detailed occupational records have not yet been identified, Johnny’s life reflects the mid-twentieth-century migration pattern common among many Mississippi families, with younger generations moving north while remaining closely tied to home communities through regular visits and family support.
Death & Burial
Johnny Earl Fielder passed away on November 3, 2004. He was laid to rest at Saint John M.B. Church Graveyard, returning in death to the same community cemetery where multiple generations of his family are buried.
