Life Story
Sim M. Arrington was born on March 24, 1901, in Newton County, Mississippi to Rev. Joe G. Arrington (1853-1939), and Pernetta Walker (1870-?). He was schooled up to the second grade. At an early age, he had work in the fields farming to help support his parents. On February 01, 1925, when he was around the age of 23, he married Mary Lou Moore at Montrose, MS, and they rented a house on a farm in Newton County, in which he worked.
In 1940, Sim was still working on the farm. His mother, Pernetta who was now about 70 years old, was living with him as well as his sister-n-law, Virgie Moore (1915-1997) and her children Mary Alice Robinson (1931-2007), Vermell Chapman (1932-2022) and Ada Lue Chapman (1935-2001).
In 1942, Sim was required to register for the draft for World War II. He was about 40 years old when he registered and he reported that he was self-employed.
At an early age, Sim joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and remained a member until his death. His death occurred quietly at his home on East Bell Street on November 27, 1969. A few months earlier, he was hurt in an automobile accident, from which he never recovered. His survivors were his wife and his son. Sim and Mary Lou’s son was living in Decatur, MS and called:

Funeral services were held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. J.L. Croft officiating the services. The pastor was assisted by Rev. D. Hayden, A. Moore, J.F. Moore, Emanuel Land and H. Page.
