Life Story
Annie Lewis Chapman Brown was born on December 25, 1906, to Oscar Lewis (1887-?) and Alice Lewis (1895-?) in Scott County, Mississippi. Early in life, she attended school as well as helped the family on the farm in Newton County.
By 1930, Annie was married to Daniel Lee Chapman (1906-1946), and from this union, two children were born, as follows:
- Jessie L. Chapman (1928-?)
- Walter B. Chapman (1930-1992)
Before Annie passed away on March 28, 1989, she was a retired teacher and a dedicated member of the Christian Liberty M.B. Church in Kosciusko. She passed away at the Attala Nursing Center in Kosciusko, Attala County, MS. Funeral services took place at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Newton, with burial in the church graveyard.
Survivors of Annie include her daughter, Jessie Skyes of Chicago, and her son, Walter B. Chapman of Maywood, Illinois.
