Life Story

Mary Ann Watts Price was born on October 15, 1953, in Newton County, Mississippi, to Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Watts (1928-2013) and Florence McCune Watts (1929-1989), in a close-knit family environment that nurtured her early years. She was the second child of her parents, growing up alongside her siblings. As a young girl, she developed a strong connection to her roots and the cultural heritage of Mississippi. Later in life, she moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she embraced new opportunities and adventures. There, she met and married Cleo Price (1952-2014), building a life together that was marked by shared dreams and aspirations. From this union, three children were born, each a testament to their love, and her pride and joy. Her children were as follows:

  • Anthony Price

Mary Ann passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Jackson, MS, on October 27, 2005, at the age of 52. She is survived by her husband, three children, and nine grandchildren: Chrisshada, Kisshadda, Kelvin, Tyshiarra, TyVonte, Christian, Sharquan, Antwaan, and Aaliyah Price. Her family also includes two sisters, Ester K. Gregureck (Steve) from Munice, Indiana, and Mattie Anderson from Jackson, MS; as well as six brothers: Jimmy M. Watts (Fannie) of Bowling Green, KY, Thomas J. Watts, Jr. (Gloria) of Meridian, MS, Billy John Watts (Eva) of Newton, MS, Richard Don Watts (Cassandra) of Bowling Green, KY, Tony Watts (Sylvia) of Newton, MS, and Vinson Watts of Newton, MS.
