Life Story

Birth and Family

X. L. William was born on January 15, 1941, in Newton County, Mississippi, to John Lindsay (1912–?) and Mary Lou Arrington (1912–1977). He was born into a family rooted in the Altare community, surrounded by extended kinship ties and church-centered life.

Though his time on earth was brief, he was a cherished son within the Lindsay and Arrington families.

Illness and Passing

X. L. William passed away on October 1, 1943, at just two years of age. The cause of death was listed as hypostatic pneumonia, a condition that often develops when prolonged illness or weakness leads to fluid congestion in the lungs. In the early 1940s, medical treatment options for such complications were limited, especially in rural communities.

His passing reflects the vulnerability of young children during that era, when even treatable conditions today could become life-threatening.

Burial and Remembrance

He was laid to rest at Altare M.B. Church graveyard in Newton County, Mississippi, resting among family and community members who shaped the spiritual life of the Altare area.

Though his life lasted only a short time, X. L. William remains part of the enduring family history of the Lindsay and Arrington lineages—remembered as a child whose presence, however brief, mattered deeply.
