White Stone - Morrow Cemetery
White Stone – Morrow Cemetery

Greenie Morrow, a native of Newton County, donated the land for this African American cemetery. It is located on Greenie Morrow Road in Lawrence, MS adjacent to his home. The oldest grave recorded with a headstone is 1975. There are a few graves with no headstone which the names are not yet known.

Mr. Morrow wanted to ensure that his family had a burial site and to provide a burial site for members of the White Stone Missionary Baptist Church which he and his family were charter members.

Bonnie Shield, daughter of Christine Shield, charter members of White Stone and Carolyn Anderson, daughter of Johnnie Jordan contributed to the purchasing of the gated fence around the White Stone – Morrow cemetery.

Before Deacon Albert Jordan’s death, he maintained the upkeep of the cemetery. Now his grandson Frank Norman, Jr. also known as “Bro” has taken over the Maintenace and upkeep of the cemetery.
